Horticulture I (Beginning) Introductory course with emphasis on greenhouse crop production, plant identification, plant processes, scale drawing, and landscape design. Students will apply classroom objectives and competencies to activities in the greenhouse, at home, at work, and around the MVHS campus. Students will also be involved in the vocational aspect of this class by completing a career-interest survey, creating a resume, and being involved in leadership activities. Students must pass Section A to enroll in Section B.
Duration: 2 Semesters Credits Per Term: .5 Target Population: 10-12 MVHS Cross Credit: Science Prerequisite: Sophomore credit standing or higher
Horticulture II (Greenhouse Management) A second-year course in Horticulture which is primarily dedicated to learning greenhouse operations, nursery production and operation of MVHS's spring plant sales.
Duration: 1 Semester Credits Per Term: .5 (repeatable credit) Target Population: 10-12 MVHS Cross Credit: Science Prerequisite: Must pass both semesters of Horticulture I
